The Malware best practice page on sophos.com gives links to sources of information on computer viruses, spam, phishing and other threats.

Our website also includes virus analyses which describe particular threats and explain how to remove them.

Anti-virus vendors often name viruses differently. Project VGrep (from Virus Bulletin) can be used to cross-reference these names.
