Using on SAV UNIX
Using Sophos
- If your UNIX/Linux server is updated automatically by EM Library, there is no need to add IDE files manually.
What to do
Note: Old IDE files are not automatically deleted from Central Installation Directories (CIDs). You should delete them and replace them with IDEs for the correct version.
- Delete the old IDEs from
/usr/local/sav - Copy the new IDEs into
/usr/local/sav
The new IDEs will be used when the Sophos
Updating Sophos
- At the server, copy the IDE files to the CID for Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 workstations. The default is
\\<servername>\InterChk\NTInst\i386where<servername>is the name of your server. - At the Windows taskbar, select Start|Run.
- Browse to
Setup.exein your CID (see step 1) and select it. - At the very end of the path in the 'Run' window, type a space followed by
/update. - Click OK.
- The workstations will update when they next check for a central update.
The final path in step 4 should take the form \\<servername>\InterChk\NTInst\i386\Setup.exe /update where <servername> is the name of your server.

\\<servername>\InterChk\W95Instwhere<servername>is the name of your server. - At the Windows taskbar, select Start|Run.

/update. - Click OK.
- If necessary, click on the 'Done' button.
- The workstations will update when they next check for a central update.
The final path in step 4 should take the form \\<servername>\InterChk\W95Inst\Setup.exe /update where <servername> is the name of your server.
How to confirm that the IDE files have been loaded in UNIX
- If sweep is run with the -p switch to create a log, the log will list the IDE files loaded.
- Run
sweep -v,which will report which IDE files are in use.
