How to check which Sophos product version is installed

This knowledgebase article describes how to check Sophos product version numbers.

NOTE: For Windows computers, you can if you wish, see the version number of the software by going into 'Add/Remove Programs', or in Windows 7 go to 'Programs and Features'.

1. Endpoint Security and Control (Sophos Anti-Virus)

3. Enterprise Console
4. PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange

1. Endpoint Security and Control (Sophos Anti-Virus)

You can check this either locally on the endpoint computer or centrally.

Windows computers

Windows endpoint computers should be running one of the current versions of Sophos Anti-Virus or Endpoint Security and Control

1. To check the version locally on the endpoint computer:
   In the system tray (in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen), double-click the Sophos shield.
   • If the 'Endpoint Security and Control' dialog appears, you are running Endpoint Security and Control.
     • For Versions 10 and above: the 'main' version number is listed in the 'Status' box, but to determine exactly which point version you are running, select 'View Product Information, then under Anti-virus and HIPS select 'Software', to display the Sophos Anti-Virus version number.
     • For earlier versions, the version number is displayed in the 'Status' box in the top right-hand of the window.
   • If the 'Updating' dialog appears, you are running Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows. Right-click the Sophos Shield to open the main program window. The version number is listed in the 'Status' box in the top right-hand of the window.
2. To check centrally (on Enterprise Console v5 and above): in the Enterprise Console, select the Anti-Virus tab to see the version number.

Macintosh OS X

Highlight the Sophos Anti-Virus icon. From the 'File' menu, select 'Get Info...' and then 'General information'. The version number is displayed in the dialog box.

The version number of Sophos Anti-Virus is also recorded in the SWEEP LOG file.

Novell NetWare

The version number is displayed in the title of the Sophos Anti-Virus console screen.

Command line interface versions

The version number is displayed when Sophos Anti-Virus is run.

2. Sophos Control Center

Open the Sophos Control Center and select Help | About Sophos Control Center.

3. Enterprise Console

Open Enterprise Console and select Help | About Sophos Enterprise Console.

4. PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange

Open the PureMessage console, in the Left hand panel, select whichever of the following is available:

• 'Help and Information'
• 'Product information'.
